Tasty Tuesday - You Sucked What at Where?!

Hello My Lovelies,

This week's Tasty Tuesday is going to be based off of  The Boiling Crab! Who is known for their line of "You Sucked What at Where" referring to the sucking of the juices of the shrimp heads or crawfish lol and turning it into a catchy foody innuendo. For those of you who live in the Los Angeles/Orange County area know of how quickly this restaurant blew up in a short matter of time! Everyone's Instagram feeds were filled with little shrimp shells in backs, and phrases and names written in ketchup on the table. It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants to go to, it's delicious, it's fun, and it satisfies! For those of you who are not familiar with this place, it is a seafood restaurant that predominately serves but not limited to shrimp by the pounds that come in an array of different seasonings and sauces. Like I mentioned before, they don't just serve shrimp. They also serve clams, crab, lobster, oysters, craw fish and deep fried catfish. If you're not a seafood lover, they do have non-seafood alternatives like chicken tenders with fries and chicken wings.

This is a small chain that is rapidly growing into something HUGE! It started off in Texas and slowly crept it's way to California and Nevada. They have a small amount of locations but I can definitely see more and more of these bad boys popping up more frequently. The way The Boiling Crab works is, you have to come hungry and you have to be patient. 99.9% of the time you go to The Boiling Crab, there is AT LEAST a 45 min wait or up to an hour. The other day, my boyfriend and I went on Good Friday and the wait was 2 HOURS!!! Plus they do not take reservations. It's first come first serve. It's ridiculous! But, that just goes to show how good the food really is. The wait time is probably the only down side to this restaurant, the crowds get pretty annoying with little children hollering because they're hungry and people smoking on the side, and it's hot and people are crammed in a small area trying to cop a seat on the bench. But, once your name gets called it's as if Jesus himself is opening the gates to heaven for you. They sit you down at a table and drape a large sheet of white butcher paper for easy clean up. Then comes the bibs. No matter what age or sex you are, you're getting a bib and you will be thankful for it lol

The waiter/waitresses give you the menu(shown above) and you get to chose your type of meat. Blue Crab, Oysters, Dungeness Crab, King Crab, Snow Crab, Lobster, Crawfish, Shrimp and Clams. The most popular selections are shrimp, clams and crawfish. My personal favorite are the shrimp and crawfish but sadly, crawfish is a seasonal selection so they're kept frozen in the off season and dont taste the same. They also have different types of seasonings(shown above.) Right off the bat, I will recommend you to get "The Whole Sha-Bang!" This is their most popular combination of seasons. It's all of their seasonings combined into one and it is absolutely scrumptious! You also get to chose your spice level. I love my spicy food and "Medium" is plenty hot for me, so please keep that in mind that their spice level is a lot higher than most places. Okay, so you ordered your meal and they bring it to you in a bucket and plop a clear plastic bag on the table and you are served! You are free to dig in!

This place is always busy, always packed and always has satisfied customers. The best part about The Boiling Crab is...YOU EAT WITH YOUR HANDS! You have to shell the shrimp by hand and crack the lobster legs all with your hands and teeth! It's really a fun experience. We're so accustomed to having a fork or spoon in our hand that we forget to use that extra sense(touch) when we eat! Eating should be satisfying for all the senses, sight, touch, taste, smell, and hearing. You taste the delicious food, you smell the beautiful aroma, you feel the texture of the thick sauce and the warmth of the freshly steamed shrimp, you see the bright red coloring of the sauce and the pink flesh of the shrimp and you hear the snack and crackle as you pull back the shell. It really is a delightful experience. Kinda gives you the "I'm a kid again" feeling while you're licking the sauce off your fingers and wearing a bib. If you have The Boiling Crab near you, definitely check it out!
